Re-Imagining the Mexican-American Experience at Hull-House
Join the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum for an exploration of Mexican American history, culture, and activism in Chicago's 19th Ward at the turn of the 20th century. During the Spring of Latino Art (SOLA), Jane Addams Hull-House Museum's public tours will explore Mexican American history, culture, and activism in Chicago's 19th Ward at the turn of the 20th century. The tour will focus on the Mexican American migration to Chicago and the influence of the Hull-House Settlement on the integration of Mexican Americans into the neighborhood on the Near West Side. Some questions the tour will raise include: What does it mean to be Mexican? American? Mexican American? How have these notions changed over time, and how can we re-examine our own evolving identities? Re-imagining the Mexican American Experience at Hull-House Tours are available on Wednesdays and Sundays starting April 6 (through April 27), from 1-2pm and reservations are not required.
