I am a visual artist whose content includes a relationship from the personal towards a shared public landscape that includes the color of things, cooking, music, novels, histories, language, architecture, nature, the handmade and snapshots. These interests are turned into visual systems that become building blocks for my paintings and drawings.
Relationship to Chicago:
I moved here from NYC with my family in 1998 to join the faculty of the Art Institute of Chicago. I am now a tenured Professor in the Painting & Drawing Department. I was appointed Interim Graduate Dean and served from 2010-2012. My studio was located in the Fine Arts Bldg for 11 years and since September of 2016, I have relocated to Mana Contemporary Chicago in Pilsen.
