I consider my work as representational of my cultural background, roots, and the many tasks and roles I have as a Latina and community activist. I am truly a surrealist, but because of my role in the community and participation in several places, most of the work I show is representational of my country of birth and cultural background. I only show my work in galleries and private shows.
Relationship to Chicago:
I am a social psychologist, work for the department of Children and family services, however; art is the way I express myself and keep my roots alive. I founded the Central American Fine Arts Center and non-for-profit organization with the mission to promote, teach, and empower Central American artists in Chicago. We teach children free of charge on an individual basis since we are still in process of obtaining a larger space to have groups as we did from 2007-2012. I have also worked close with cultural/civic organizations for the past 25 years.
