Miguel A. Del Real
Del Real Ink © art illustrates mostly black line work contrasted with colorful accents and original designs influenced by pre-Columbian and Indigenous patterns, as well as calligraphy and urban art. Through experimentation with mediums from sumi ink, aerosol, acrylic paint, and utilizing fine art techniques of drawing, painting, printmaking, Del Real is encouraged by figurative aesthetics yet remains abstract and conceptual often incorporating anthropomorphic imagery.
The overall intention behind this body of work is unique creative expression to cultivate a sense of higher consciousness - art that is transformative. Through the significance of culture and introspective lens, viewers are encouraged to reflect on who we are as a microcosm amidst a larger universe. There are multiple layers to our existence and shifting focus from the big picture to observation of intricate details is what gives meaning to this body of artwork, and also reflects the chaotic order of life.
