Artist Statement:
I interpret the social changes through the spiritual changes in my art. These are revealed through my medium-pastels.
Relationship to Chicago:
As a daughter of those members of the Puerto Rican Diaspora of the 1950's, I have resided in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood all of my life. I have seen the darkness and challenges of the Latinx and African-American families in this particular community. My art speaks to their struggles and the gentrification that is taking place now from "the last of my kind"-a middle-aged Puerto Rican women.
